SATURDAY
Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers
The Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers are a group of musicians, educators, and artisans from the tribal communities of Mashpee on Cape Cod, Aquinnah on Martha's Vineyard, and Herring Pond in Bourne. Our performances of eastern social songs and dances have both educated and entertained audiences of all ages in museums, schools, and various multi-cultural events. We dress in our traditional clothing and our songs are accompanied by a water drum and handcrafted rattles. We encourage audience participation and prefer to dance with the people instead of for the people.
The Harwich Cranberry Festival is honored to include, for the first time, members of the tribal communities to share some of their traditions.
We are humbled to acknowledge that we live on the lands settled and inhabited for more than 10,000 years by the Wampanoag, the People of the First Light.
Epic in sound and kaleidoscopic in vision, the eclectic Martha's Vineyard-based Entrain has been thrilling critics and fans alike since its inception. Formed and led by drummer Tom Major in 1993 .... praised for their ability to shift effortlessly between musical styles - from rock, blues, calypso and ska, to zydeco, jazz and funk - often within the same song. "The whole Entrain concept is based on the drums and infectious rhythms. Once we've got that.... anything goes, everything goes," explains Major. "The most important thing that we try to do with our music is bring everybody together in the spirit of peace, love, fun and a ton of drums!"
Entrain's goal is not just to be the biggest and the best, says Major. "We want to create music that makes people feel good. When we look out from the stage, all we see is smiling faces of all ages and bodies moving. You can't beat that feeling. At the same time if we can help to promote positive values and lifestyles... great! There's enough negativity in the world, let's spread a little joy around and watch how infectious it can be."
The Drumma Queens of Cape Cod
The Drumma Queens of Cape Cod celebrate life’s rhythms. They are an all-women percussion ensemble that creates joyful noise and positive, healing vibrations wherever and whenever they perform. They drum, sing, dance and tell stories that create a memorable experience for their audiences.
"Everyone in the audience left {the performance} with a smile on their face"
woof woof meow
Woof Woof Meow is a band from outer Cape Cod. “Our mission is to inspire folks to celebrate the Earth by dancing. We play a mix of original Ska, New Wave, Reggae, and Funk, plus creative covers by Prince, Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Victor Jara, and The B-52s.”
Trevor Pearson, electric bass
Michael Holt, keyboard and lead vocals
Ken Field, sax and flute
Rikki Bates, drums
A blues musician at her core, Natalia's natural storytelling ability and powerhouse vocals will take you on a journey. An award winning songwriter, her single “Before” won the New England Songwriters Competition and received honorable mention in SongDoor’s International Competition. The release of her EP, "Beyond the Broken Pieces", followed shortly after, offering an intimate peak into love, heartbreak, and the journey to self discovery.
A top 50 finalist on American Idol’s 20th season, Natalia has performed alongside national acts like fellow idol winners David Cook and Crystal Bowersox, Grammy nominee Allen Stone, Blues Legend Joe Louis Walker, and the boss himself Bruce Springsteen
With a sound reminiscent of Amy Winehouse or Janis Joplin, and commanding lyrics such as those of Alanis Morissette, Natalia comes alive on stage and is a must-see!
SUNDAY
Two of the best Blues Bands in New England.
Their only Cape Cod shows of the summer!
The james montgomery blues band
For more than 50 years, James Montgomery has been front man, lead singer and harmonica player, bringing originals and covers of the blues to events like ours. I’m pretty sure that James and his band have played at every venue and festival that I’ve booked or been associated with over the years. Truly a legend.
Danielle Miraglia & The Glory Junkies
"Straddling the line where folk/roots meets rock/blues, Miraglia has a voice that can go from a raspy come-hither purr to an Etta James-esque powerhouse belt, although she may be best known for her lead thumb — a heavy, thumping strike on her Gibson that’s backdrop percussion in itself." — Lauren Daley, The Boston Globe
